Kate's Story...
AVAILABLE 08-28-16 Kate was brought to the Shelter when she and two other dogs were running together when they got picked up as strays by an Animal Control Officer on August 22. Kate is a friendly girl who tested negative for heart worms, so is now on preventative and her shots are now up to date. When you first approach her kennel gate to take her for a walk, Kate gets pretty excited, but once the slip lead is around her neck and you start walking, she settles into a nice trot. Kate enjoys durable toys and sleeping on her Karunda bed when she dreams of a loving home to call her own. Her adoption fee includes a microchip and her spay surgery at our contracted clinic. So please consider giving Kate that loving home she dreams about...

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kate, a Elizabeth City Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Elizabeth City, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Elizabeth City.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Elizabeth City already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Elizabeth City breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Elizabeth City paves the way for another one to be saved.
