Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Get your very own pocket-sized shepherd! Blanca is a 30 pound, 1 year old German Shepherd mix. She has all the wonderful traits associated with the breed, but she comes in a convenient and portable package! Blanca was pulled from a rural Alabama shelter in really rough shape; she was unable to use her front left leg and was 3 legged lame. Friends of Rescue immediately sent her to the vet, and numerous x-rays revealed that Blanca had sustained an injury to the bones in her elbow that had already begun to heal. Because the injury happened a while ago, surgery was not an option. Instead, she was prescribed anti-inflammatory drugs and rest. After a month of resting in her foster home, she is now using the front left leg, but she does have a limp. Our vets tell us she may always limp, but that her quality of life is great and she is happy and healthy. Due to her special situation, Blanca will need an adopter who is willing to keep her on daily anti-inflammatory drugs and who will work closely with a vet to ensure she is staying comfortable.
Blanca has been fostered on a horse farm, and she gets along well with dogs, horses, chickens, cats, and even pigs. Her best friend on the farm is a pig - they go everywhere together! Blanca is house trained, crate trained, and rides in a car well. She would love to be adopted into a home with other animals.
Blanca is spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated, and she is fostered in Huntsville, AL. If you're interested in applying to adopt, please fill out the application on this page.http://forrescue.net/dog-application/
