Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Ms. Personality is here to entertain you
Shea an almost 7 month old lab/terrier mix weighing about 30 pounds. She has more personality in that puppy body than her foster home has ever seen before.
Shea is the happiest most energetic puppy on the block. She has not met a human big or small she does not like. She is the star at the playground and at the farmers market eager to sniff and lick everyone who stops. Her tail will start wagging even before you are close enough to pet her. Shea is working on her manners when meeting new people and is easily excited. She loves to make puppy friends even those who are not too sure about her and her excitement level.
She is high energy and if you lose sight of her she quickly finds the shoes you thought you had put away. Thankfully she seems to prefer the laces over the actual shoe. She loves to chew and play with her toys but just like a toddler if you can't hear her something is up. Shea is crate trained and easily sleeps all night without a peep. During the day she will rest in her crate or on the couch if no one wants to play. Once the house gets noisy and things start happening she is in front running, jumping, playing. She is learning how to play nicely without getting too overexcited and using her teeth. She is currently living with kids and loves the attention she gets and the added playtime. She may at times get a little rough but settles down once the focus is on a specific toy. It will probably be best for Shea to find a home without cats. She is very curious and loves to chase them not quite understanding why they don’t want to play.
Shea is mostly potty trained. She has had only a few accidents since getting spayed and it is always when it has been a while since she was out. She walks nicely on the leash once she gets some energy out and very curious about all the wild life. A fenced yard would be ideal if her new home doesn’t have time for long walks or runs. After a run she curls up on the couch a happy dog.
Shea will make an awesome family dog. She already knows how to sit and stay before eating. Her foster home is working on come and drop it. She is a smart dog but loses interest quickly so it will take many small sessions and a little patience to help her become even more amazing.
Puppies have special needs and require a home where there will be someone available to care for, socialize, and train them during the day. If your family is away from the home for several hours at a time, please consider adopting a “teen” or adult dog.
Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping.
We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email safehavendogsIL@yahoo.com for an application or additional details.
