Cookie's Story...
Cookie (DSH, Black and white 11 year old female) With no reason given, her owner for 11 years surrendered her to the Shelter with only her collar and name tag to show that she once had a loving home. One month later, baffled and withdrawn, Cookie was rescued by FUR. And as usual, the volunteers showered her with love, patience and food! Who could resist such determined folks giving their all to make her happy again? It took just a few days for this bossy, loving and affectionate chatterbox to feel secure. While she adores people and loves belly rubs, other cats are not her cup of tea. If you are looking to leave loneliness behind, this girl is for you. Cookie will tell you so!

Our shelter is a no cage, no kill sanctuary. Most of the cats in our care are here because they was no other alternative and for many it was their last hope. All of our cats receive love, affection and attention everyday. Every volunteer we have spends personal time with each and every one of them so we can tell you in detail all about their personality when you come to adopt. The more we can adopt out the more we can go out and rescue.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Cookie, a Waynesville Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Waynesville, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Waynesville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Waynesville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Waynesville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Waynesville paves the way for another one to be saved.
