Morris's Story...
Introducing Morris. This handsome boy is a flat coated retriever mix, born in March of this year (2016) We rescued Morris when he was about 2.5 months old from a horder/neglect situation. When we got him, he had a skin condition which left him with major hair loss, especially on his face...he looked pitiful. But as you can see, with good nutrition and proper care, Morris has flourished and his hair has grown back almost all the way. Morris is in excellent health, he is fully vetted, up to date on vaccinations, neutered, on monthly heartworm and flea &tick prevention. Morris is a LOVE BUG. This boy gets along great with everyone he meets; other dogs and people. He is crate trained and is doing very well in the house. Morris currently weighs 46 lbs, but still has some growing and filling out to do. He will probably be about 55 lbs when fully grown.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Morris, a Portland Flat-Coated Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Flat-Coated Retriever for sale in Portland, or seeking a Flat-Coated Retriever puppy from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Flat-Coated Retriever breeders who help with Flat-Coated Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
