Beau is a happy soul. He seems to know his basic commands, and is becoming better at walking on a leash. He has no problem meeting new people or dogs. He LOVES to cuddle, but also loves to lay at your feet. He sleeps on a dog bed in my room, all night. Doesn’t make a peep til I wake up. He takes comfort in his people, and bonds quickly and well. So far, he is NOT good with cats. His recall is improving. He barks sparingly when a car comes in the driveway. He doesn’t bark in the house when I leave. He doesn’t in any way wreck the house or chew personal items. He is a really nice dog that would do so well in a family setting.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Beau, a Ottawa Newfoundland dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Newfoundland for sale in Ottawa, or seeking a Newfoundland dog from a breeder in Ottawa.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Ottawa already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Ottawa breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Newfoundland breeders who help with Newfoundland rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Ottawa paves the way for another one to be saved.
