Cookie is a very cute and tiny cream colored Dachshund mix who was rescued from the local shelter. She weighs 8.8 lbs. She has a healthy coat that is very soft to the touch. Cookie is three years old and is most likely mixed with Chihuahua, but she is all Doxie. Her looks, feet, walk, long body, toenails, snout, all Doxie. Even her ears are too, but they have an upward slant to them. The only thing that does not seem to be Dachshund-like is that Cookie does not really bark much. Cookie was surrendered to the shelter by her owner who claimed, “I am moving and I cannot take her with me.”

Cookie follows me everywhere because the pack does too. She is initially shy but gains confidence by the minute and actually adjusted to the rescue setting very quickly because she is very comfortable in the pack. She is curious and inquisitive about what I am doing. She prefers to sleep in a crate near me in the bedroom. I think she would prefer to sleep loose with my own Dachshunds on the big bed with me and burrow under the blankets. When Cookie first arrived at the rescue, she was insecure from having been dumped by her owners at the shelter, but she is so great with all dogs that she immediately huddled together with the other dogs on pet beds upon first entering my house to seek her comfort from them. Her personality is coming out each day and I love to see her running fast with her little legs so low to the ground! She has a clown side to her; she will start running around the yard real fast and it is kind of funny to watch. You can tell that she has some spunk to her; she is starting to pick up toys and shake them around, she is interactively playful with other dogs that also show an interest in playing, and she definitely loves when I bring out the treats!

The home we seek for Cookie is a home with another dog that will welcome her and accept her. I truly believe that Cookie is better off with another canine. She seems to look to the other dogs for support. If you have an already existing Dachshund, or any smaller dog whereby you are seeking a companion, consider Cookie. She is basically a quiet, calm dog who is completely potty-trained (she has never had an accident in my house. Of course, I leave a door open at all times and typically walk the dogs out. But Cookie already knows the dog door. She either knew it already or learned it in a day). Cookie is an endearing sweetheart that does not understand why her owner did not want her anymore. She just wants a home where her people will love her and not hurt her. Could that be you?

Cookie is spayed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Cookie, please contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue until you have first submitted an interest via e-mail.
