My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Marshmallow and his siblings were born to a feral mother that was trapped during a TNR project. Once the siblings were weaned, Marshmallow's mother was spayed and released back into her territory. Marshmallow and his siblings have been in foster care since being weaned and are doing great! Marshmallow has a different kind of kitten personality. He always seems to have a look of seriousness on his little face Although he does enjoy playing with the other cats and kittens in his foster home, he can also spend an equal amount of time watching birds out the window or snoozing in a sunbeam. Maybe he is just trying to figure out how all the other cats ended up with tails and he didn't get one! There are also dogs in his foster home but he chooses not to have too much contact with them. Marshmallow has been neutered and it up to date on his vaccines (Feline Leukemia, FVRCP and Rabies). He has tested negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV. He is litter box trained and eats mostly dry kitten food, but he and his siblings do get a little canned food as a treat before bed. Marshmallow was born June 1, 2016. Please, you MUST visit the following link BEFORE emailing for further information. If you'd like to find out more information about our adoption procedure or to apply for this cat visit http://www.poochesonthemove.net/dixie-pet-underground.html
Or e-mail adoptions@dixiepetunderground.org to request an adoption application, or visit our website at www.dixiepetunderground.org.

Once we receive your complete application, an adoption counselor will call you within 48 hours of receipt of the application. During the adoption interview, the adoption counselor will tell you more about the cat/kitten and our adoption processes, as well as answer any questions you have.
cats and kittens are up-to-date on their vaccinations, spayed/neutered, de-wormed, treated for fleas/ticks and Feline Leukemia negative before leaving rescue. You will receive complete medical records for your cat or kitten at the time of adoption.

The adoption fee is $225 and covers the cost of all veterinary care and transportation to your area.
Our cats and kittens are delivered via a USDA-certified van transport and receive an Interstate Health Certificate -- issue by a licensed, accredited veterinarian -- no more than 10 days before the cat or kitten leaves rescue.

All of our cats and kittens come into rescue from the "death row" of animal shelters in the south, or are owner surrenders or strays who were "pound bound" before coming into rescue. Adopting a cat or kitten from the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad means you are truly part of a partnership to save the life of the cat or kitten that you welcome into your family.

Our cats or kittens are fostered at our rescue in Tennessee, meaning that it isn't possible to meet the cat or kitten before adoption. Our adoption counselor works with you to do everything possible to ensure that there is a good match between the family and the cat. We have had several hundred cats adopted using this process and most of the time, it results in happy kittens and happy people.

If for any reason an adoption is not successful, the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad will work with the adopter to find the best possible solution for the cat and the adopting family.

We can provide contact information for adopters in your area who can tell you about their experience partnering with the Underground Railroad to save the life of a cat and make the animal a part of their family.

We look forward to hearing from you and working with you to find the right cat for your family!
