Facts about Marshmallow

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Tan Or Fawn
  • Age: Kitten
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: DD
  • Hair: Short
Marshmallow and his siblings were born to a feral mother that was trapped during a TNR project. Once the siblings were weaned, Marshmallow's mother was spayed and released back into her territory. Marshmallow and his siblings have been in foster care since being weaned and are doing great! Marshmallow has a different kind of kitten personality. He always seems to have a look of seriousness on his little face Although he does enjoy playing with the other cats and kittens in his foster home, he can also spend an equal amount of time watching birds out the window or snoozing in a sunbeam. Maybe he is just trying to figure out how all the other cats ended up with tails and he didn't get one! There are also dogs in his foster home but he chooses not to have too much contact with them. Marshmallow has been neutered and it up to date on his vaccines (Feline Leukemia, FVRCP and Rabies). He has tested negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV. He is litter box trained and eats mostly dry kitten food, but he and his siblings do get a little canned food as a treat before bed. Marshmallow was born June 1, 2016. Email today for an application if you think Marshmallow would be the perfect kitty for your home!

Or e-mail adoptions@dixiepetunderground.org to request an adoption application, or visit our website at www.dixiepetunderground.org.

Once we receive your complete application, an adoption counselor will call you within 48 hours of receipt of the application. During the adoption interview, the adoption counselor will tell you more about the cat/kitten and our adoption processes, as well as answer any questions you have.
cats and kittens are up-to-date on their vaccinations, spayed/neutered, de-wormed, treated for fleas/ticks and Feline Leukemia negative before leaving rescue. You will receive complete medical records for your cat or kitten at the time of adoption.

The adoption fee is $225 and covers the cost of all veterinary care and transportation to your area.
Our cats and kittens are delivered via a USDA-certified van transport and receive an Interstate Health Certificate -- issue by a licensed, accredited veterinarian -- no more than 10 days before the cat or kitten leaves rescue.

All of our cats and kittens come into rescue from the "death row" of animal shelters in the south, or are owner surrenders or strays who were "pound bound" before coming into rescue. Adopting a cat or kitten from the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad means you are truly part of a partnership to save the life of the cat or kitten that you welcome into your family.

Our cats or kittens are fostered at our rescue in Tennessee, meaning that it isn't possible to meet the cat or kitten before adoption. Our adoption counselor works with you to do everything possible to ensure that there is a good match between the family and the cat. We have had several hundred cats adopted using this process and most of the time, it results in happy kittens and happy people.

If for any reason an adoption is not successful, the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad will work with the adopter to find the best possible solution for the cat and the adopting family.

We can provide contact information for adopters in your area who can tell you about their experience partnering with the Underground Railroad to save the life of a cat and make the animal a part of their family.

We look forward to hearing from you and working with you to find the right cat for your family!

About Pooches & Purrs Cooperative - Scranton

About Our Rescue Group...

Pooches & Purrs Cooperative is a group of rescues and individual rescuers that are working hard to find loving homes for the dogs, cats, kittens and puppies that find their way into our care through no fault of their own. Each individual or group has several wonderful dogs In Tennessee, Alabama or Kentucky looking for homes! All of them are completely vetted and neutered/spayed (if age appropriate) and on heartworm protection. All of them come with complete medical records. Their adoption fee of $500 covers their complete age appropriate vetting and heartworm preventative as well as their transportation to your area.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our rescues don't have an actual shelter building in the New England area. Due to this it is not always possible to meet them prior to their adoption. At times, a dog may be in foster care in New England and their bio will clearly be marked as such. These southern dogs & cats are brought up to their new owners weekly! We have a 14 day money back guarantee and the pet can be rehomed appropriately if things don't work out. Each group tries hard to get good matches in your homes so that everyone has a happy life together! To date the cooperative has placed over a two thousand dogs and puppies, cats and kittens in loving New England homes! Each group has many, many, references of happy adopters up in your area that can fill you in on their experience. Just email and they can pass along that information for your convenience.
