Kounai's Story...
Name: Kounai
Breed: Siberian Husky mix
Gender: male
Age: 2 years
Cat: no
Dogs: so-so
Kids: no

My name is Kounai (promounced Kou-knee) and I am estimated at 2 years old. I am new to the rescue and still adjusting. For the first few days, I was very reserved and just sat in a corner of the room. Now that I am more comfortable, I have quite a playful side! However, I jump up and grab with my mouth while I am playing, so I should not be with young children. I know some of my basic commands like sit and down, and I even have a half-decent recall for just learning English! I am smart, and I want to please. I will learn new commands with you quickly. I walk decently on a leash and I love going for walks. Car rides are pretty great too. I just love to be with you. I am good in the house, but I should be crated when you aren’t home. I am young and can get into mischief when unattended. I am crate trained and great in my crate. While I am great in my crate, I would prefer I not have to be crated and alone for long periods of time. I was essentially raised in a crate. It was pretty boring, and I am loving this freedom thing. So, I think I would like a home with at least one person home a lot so I can be free. Since I grew up in a crate, I was not socialized with other dogs and I don’t know how to interact with them. I greet them ok, but then I get tense and sometimes growl. My foster people remove me from the situation before things escalate. I think I can learn to be with other dogs that can effectively and safely teach me how to interact with my own kind. I seem to prefer females over male dogs at this point. I should not be with small dogs or cats. I am neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. I am located in Tweed, ON and my adoption fee is $125.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kounai, a Tweed Siberian Husky dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Siberian Husky for sale in Tweed, or seeking a Siberian Husky dog from a breeder in Tweed.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Tweed already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Tweed breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Siberian Husky breeders who help with Siberian Husky rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Tweed paves the way for another one to be saved.
