Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Gus was adopted from our shelter in Jan 2015. He was initially relinquished in 2014 when his 2 legged companion since puppyhood, settled locally and Gus was not allowed in the apartment. Confused and missing his friend, one year old Gus tried to adjust to the world of concrete and chain link. Shelter friends did their best to provide him with the friendship he so desperately missed.
After a 9 month wait he was delighted to join a family in Jan 2015 and he was off to live the good life where he stayed firmly by the sides of his people where he could reassure them of his love for them. Naps were taken on his favorite spot, a big comfy recliner where he could be seen on his back with 4 feet up, tongue lolling from his mouth as he engaged in doggie dreams, secure in his life. Recently a health crisis with a family member brought much of his outdoor activity to a halt and is causing a move to a much smaller home, both factors felt not to be in the best interest of Gus. In keeping with our requirement to have our alumni returned to us if rehoming is needed, Gus made the 4 hour journey back to the kennel he left behind 21 months ago. Back to a vinyl cot, back to feeling the heartache of family loss. He is a beautiful boy who once again finds himself alone and not understanding what has happened.
Gus is a 3.5 year old solid black German or Belgian(Tervuren) Shepherd mix whose coat is thick but not long. He has been an indoor dog and is perfectly house trained, reported to never have accidents in the house. He has been command trained though he does have his spells of listening only to the doggie voice in his head. Loves to run. Adores all people and children. He seemed most bonded to the male figure in his household. One of his greatest joys was to ride in the front seat of the family pickup truck. He loved going on outings and family trips. Gus weighs 53 pounds, is fully vetted and was returned with all of his vet records and "personal items".
Adoption fee for Gus is $100. To submit an application and read about our adoption procedure, go to: https://www.facebook.com/smithgallhumanesociety/photos/a.984873858223547.1073741865.548822128495391/1271213192922944/?type=3&theater .
