Panda is the sweetest, happiest little girl you’ve ever met! She is a 6 year old, 15 pound black and white Shih Tzu, and she just loves life! She’s absolutely adorable, her tail is always wagging and she’s friendly to everyone she meets. She follows her foster mom around everywhere, and needs to snuggle up next to foster mom or dad on the couch whenever they sit down. Panda loves to go on long walks, and she does a little dance every time she realizes it’s time to go outside. She’s house trained, loves to go on car rides and is always playing with her toys - she’s just a good little girl and a joy to have around!
Panda is currently on medication for epilepsy and dry eye, and is also on a high quality refrigerated food. She is a little on the heavy side now, her vet would like to see her get down to 12 pounds, so she’s eating a restricted calorie diet and getting lots of exercise every day. She’s already lost almost two pounds in her first few weeks of foster care, so we are optimistic that she will reach her goal weight. Additionally, she is currently on pain medication for possible spinal pain, but we’re hoping once she gets down to a healthy weight, that she’ll feel a lot better and will be able to get off the pain medication.
Panda is okay with other small dogs, but ignores them for the most part and might growl if they invade her space. Therefore, it would be best for her to be an only pet or have doggy siblings who are not engaging and will not bother her too much. Because Panda loves human companionship so much, she needs a family who is home with her much of the day. She will be happiest in a quiet, calm household with adults and older, respectful children.
Panda is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. Her adoption fee is $270.00 plus sales tax of $19.64, for a total of $289.64. Her foster parents would like her adopters to live in the immediate Twin Cities area so they can visit once in a while and would like them to also agree to attend the Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held each year in September.
