My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fritz is an extremely handsome 2 ½ to 3 year old boy who looks like a pure-bred German Shepherd, but he could also be a blend of shepherd and Belgian Sheepdog, (Or, you might think he looks like a black wolf – take your pick!)

He is truly stunning – his coat is black and golden, and luxurious.

Fritz has absolutely amazing huge bear feet – I love his gorgeous huge feet, and I swear, if that if all you saw, you would really think he was a big black bear!

Fritz weights about 65 + pounds – he isn’t huge, but is a perfect size.

Hard to believe, but Fritz is a shelter rescue. Apparently, he was a stray, which is hard to imagine because he never wanders off – he sticks close to his foster momma and to the house, other than when he is playing with my other foster pups.

Fritz is an extremely mellow, easy-going gentleman of a dog. He is SO amazingly gentle – my little dogs bark at him, but he simply ignores them and goes on about his business. He is truly gentle as a lamb.

He loves to be with people is very well behaved and dog friendly. He is playful and loving, and simply great with children.

I see Fritz as a dog like Nana in Peter Pan – a tiny bit goofy, maybe, but wonderfully loving and caring. And he is A LOT smarter than Nana!

Fritz is one of the most trainable breeds in the entire dog world. He is so smart and can learn anything.

However, it seems like Fritz missed out on some basic training – he is very well behaved, but isn’t used to walking on a leash. He is great in the car, comes when he is called, doesn’t jump at all (he’ll NEVER jump a fence, for example), and he isn’t a digger or a chewer. He will follow you around very willingly, but doesn’t seem to like a leash. I use a special collar and harness to walk him, which is no big deal, and he is getting used to it.

German Shepherds are known to be watchful, alert, curious, obedient, loyal, confident, courageous, intelligent, cheerful, obedient and eager to learn, tranquil, confident, serious and clever. They are extremely faithful, and brave, and will not think twice about giving their lives for their human pack. They are extremely trainable and considered one of the smartest dog breeds.

If you want to feel save out hiking in the parks, or walking in the city at night, or exploring lesser-used areas., Fritz will make you feel perfectly safe! He truly IS a gentle giant, but he looks formidable enough to protect anyone!

Fritz can be a bit stand-offish at first: he is well socialized (great with everyone and never barks), but isn’t very used to coming in the house. When he does come in, he is calm and mellow – not rambunctious –but seems a bit wary.

Since he is still just a pup, he will learn all of his “social skills” in the right home with the right training.

Fritz is neutered and up to date on all of his shots – he is perfectly healthy and has had his vet exam.

Fritz is a truly wonderful boy! I love this handsome, outstanding fellow.

To meet this wonderful gentleman and the rest of our other great foster puppies, please call 858-602-2061 or email crittersandrascals@gmail.com.

You might even want to take Fritz home for a “sleepover” to see how your family, your other pets, and awesome Fritz all get along.
