My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DAISY IS HERE IN CT AND PRE-APPROVED ADOPTERS CAN COME MEET HER BY APPOINTMENT. SHE IS A COURTESY POST. ALL INQUIRIES AND APPLICATIONS WILL BE FORWARDED TO HER CURRENT FAMILY.

THE FIRST STEP IN THE PROCESS IS SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION EMBEDDED IN THE LISTING DESCRIPTION IF YOU READ THROUGH. WE DO NOT ACCEPT ADOPT-A-PET APPLICATIONS. WE CANNOT ANSWER EMAILS ASKING ABOUT A DOG'S AVAILABILITY. IF IT IS LISTED WITHOUT THE WORD "PENDING" IT MEANS IT IS AVAILABLE.

It's always confounding when a married couple wants a dog so much and gives it a loving home when they're together . . . . and then the couple divorces and neither one wants the dog. That's why Daisy is in this situation -- the casualty of a broken marriage -- without one thought given to how much Daisy's heart would break. For 2 years after she was kicked out of her first home, she found a safety net with one set of compassionate "grandparents" but now their situation has changed and they must find her a new home by November, or Daisy's luck will give out.

Who knows what happened behind closed doors that may have left Daisy a bit leery upon first meeting new people. She bonded quickly to her grandparents when she first moved in with them, and she loves them with 100% devotion -- like undying gratitude for having taken her in. But when she meets new people she's a bit standoffish, a bit protective of her family. After her journey, it's almost understandable. That she attached so easily to her grandparents gives us every reason to believe she will attach to her new family very quickly too, as long as they allow the introduction to unfold at her pace.

Daisy is playful and sometimes hides her favorite toys so that she can't even find them! She has been enrolled in doggy day care and even earned "free roam" privileges to visit other dogs in that elite status when boarding overnight. She's been terrific with the grandkids, she's obedient, and she still even retreats to her crate on her own -- it's her little safe place. Daisy is about 5 years old, she weighs about 65 pounds (with a few to lose) and she's a very healthy girl. She just needs a home, fast.
