Lola Bell is a 12.5 pound, 6 year old Shih Tzu that gets along with everyone, including other dogs and cats!
Lola Bell is a sweet adult dog, who also appreciates snuggles and affection but can also sit by herself quietly with no problem. She would be perfect in either an apartment or a house. Lola Bell is patient and gentle, and the most undemanding dog her foster mom has ever met. Her favorite things are sleeping or watching what the people are doing from her bed. She is a happy girl whose tail is always wagging when she is around ‘her people.’ When she meets strangers she can be initially hesitant, but never aggressive, and warms up as soon as they scratch her head.
Lola knows the command: sit. Lola Bell rides in the passenger seat of our car very well and also allows you to carry her around in a bag. Even on long LIRR train rides, she sleeps in her bag and doesn't try to leap out. She would be a very easy travel companion.
Lola is very well crate trained, and will sleep in the crate silently all night. We can tell that she has been previously crate trained, because as soon as we display behaviors that indicate we are leaving (such as putting on shoes and picking up keys) she will go to the crate. We have watched her on a web-cam in the crate, and she just sits patiently waiting for you to come home.
Lola walks beautifully on a leash, and is the perfect walking companion. She stays by your side on a loose lead, and does not get easily distracted, and can walk as far as you want! She is housetrained and will use a puppy pad if you do not bring her out in enough time.
Lola Belle enjoys going on walks, and would be happy to take frequent walks with you but does not need tons of exercise. Lola is playful and will chase leaves that are blowing on her walks. She is more of a couch potato. She loves to sit with you, and does not need tons of exercise though she does enjoy taking walks. She is alert when people are around and interacting with her, but as soon as you hold her she falls asleep. I would not describe her as energetic, or needing to burn off energy.
She loves to be petted and really becomes your best friend if you will scratch behind her ears and pet her head. Lola LOVES to drape herself across your lap and snooze. She will bury her head in your lap and fall asleep, snore, and be the happiest dog in the world. She also permits being carried in your arms, and will nuzzle her head on your arms while you carry her. She loves to cuddle, but doesn't demand it.
She truly is the sweetest and easiest dog. She is not destructive, she does not have separation anxiety, she has never showed any aggressive behavior toward us or other animals. I couldn't imagine a better dog!
