Meet Lady!
Shepherd Mix
DOB 11/1/15

Lady is a happy girl who barely ever barks. She has a lot of energy and loves to run and play. She would do well with an active family and a fenced in yard where she can play to her hearts content. After she's worn herself out, she will cuddle in for some love with her humans.

Lady is currently an only dog but we believe, based on interactions with neighborhood dogs, that she would do well with other dogs. She does live in a home with a cat and she tries to chase the cat, but the cat is very good at ignoring her.

Lady does well with all people and with children. She gets excited when people come to the door and can jump up on them but with some training, this should be a habit that can be broken. Lady is housebroken and has been trained to ring bells when she needs to go outside.

Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping.

We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email for an application or additional details.

Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.

Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments. Fostering is a rewarding experience for your family.

About Safe Haven Dog Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a small 501 C3 nonprofit rescue located in Elburn, Illinois. In 2014, Safe Haven Dog Rescue became its own non-profit. We are licensed by the Illinois Agriculture Department.
The majority of our dogs and puppies are pulled from Kill Pounds and Shelters in KY, TN, AL and Illinois. When a foster home is available we will also accept owner relinquishment’s due to illness or foreclosure. We work hard to find local rescue groups within these states to pull the dogs into their program while we coordinate transportation and placement into foster homes.
Please take a few moments to read the stories about the dogs and puppies we have available for adoption. We disclose everything we know about the dogs, sometimes we know a lot often we know only that they were strays, thrown away on the side of the road, in the woods, or found in abandoned houses. While we don’t always know their past we are certain that their future is much brighter.
We hope that you and your family are part of the future…..
