Violet's Story...
Violet and her sisters Lucy and Sally arrived at the shelter in early October, and similar to other older kittens with limited exposure to humans, she wasn't too sure of us at first -- until we dared to pet her and hold her. And now she can't get enough, crying and crying for us to come to her cage, pick her up, hug her and kiss her and shower her with love. All three sisters, so new to the shelter, are just starting to adapt to their new environment, and we're sure that in very little time, Violet will be completely at ease with life among humans. Violet should make a wonderful companion to other cats or children, and though we're not sure how she feels about dogs, with her new, outgoing personality we think she will probably be fine living with a gentle dog that is not aggressive towards cats.

Violet is about 7 months old, is box-trained, spayed, current on vaccinations, and tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia. Adoption fee is $50 (cash or check only, please). For more information on Violet, or an adoption application, email ClayvilleCritters@cox.net, call the shelter at (401) 647-7200, or visit the shelter during regular hours: Tue, Wed, Fri 7 to 11 a.m., Thursday 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Violet, a Clayville Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Clayville, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Clayville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Clayville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Clayville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Clayville paves the way for another one to be saved.
