Foster Mom needs to be in site at all times. Charlie isn’t shy about asking for pets or attention when she wants them but can also settle if she thinks Foster Mom and siblings are settled; napping is not an issue at all! When there’s a lot of activity, she tends to pace behind her humans like a little shadow. Charlie is getting to be a champ in her crate! Though she is a little shy about going in still, she can be coaxed with a tasty treat. Once she is in her crate, she settles down just fine. If there’s a lot of commotion in the house still, putting a blanket over the top is very helpful for her.
When Charlie has to potty, she tends to get a little antsy which is Foster Mom’s cue to let her outside. She pottys when she goes outside, but she often makes mistakes inside still. Charlie hasn’t been around cats or children but we imagine she would be weary of both since she is so hesitant to relax around anything unfamiliar. Dogs, on the other hand, are very helpful for Charlie as they give her the OK and help her adjust. When meeting new people, Charlie is shy at first and prefers to explore them slowly, on her terms. If her foster sisters are good with the humans, she soon realizes they’re ok and isn’t shy about giving kisses.
Loud noises (such as motorcycles starting up) are pretty nerve-racking for Charlie, but she is gradually gaining her confidence. Her energy level is pretty mellow and she thoroughly enjoys hanging out and chewing on bones. Every once in a while she’ll get a case of the zoomies, but is pretty laid back for the most part. With a couple short walks and some outdoor exploring, Charlie is pretty easily amused. Sniffing around the fence is one of her favorite things to and as she gains more confidence on a leash, she’ll need longer walks and play sessions.
Meal time is Charlie’s favorite time of day and she gets so excited! She jumps up and down and is still learning her manners. The inside life is still quite unfamiliar to little Miss Charlie and when she sees something familiar, she often stops to observe – like on the television… yes, Charlie watches the world go by on the tv.
Sweet, affectionate, & loving is the best way to describe this lovely lab. She is eager to please and loves learning how to be a good dog. With a little time and effort into some potty training, she’ll be there soon enough!
