Tanner Touchdown's Story...
Tanner is a very handsome, dark red (almost mahogany) two year old. He came into rescue with his three brothers Randy, Sully and Hendrix. The boys went to their new foster homes in pairs, to encourage them to socialize better with both people and other dogs. This has really been quite beneficial for all of them. They are getting along wonderfully with other dogs, and they aren’t at all dominant in nature. Tanner is a super loving dog but like most Dachshunds, he needs to make sure all visitors pass the sniff test before he will let you pet him. After a few minutes of warm up time, he’ll put his paws up on you and gladly welcome a chin scratch.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tanner Touchdown, a Houston Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Houston, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
