My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Luka has a special story. One of our volunteers was at the local kill shelter pulling 17 dogs off death row when an animal control van pulled up. They had been called out on an emergency - someone reported a stray who had been there for 3 days and had severe injuries due to a possible collision with a car. The AC officer went up to our volunteer and said that he was on his way to have the dog immediately euthanized because of the severity but that we were more than welcome to look at him. When the volunteer opened the door and saw poor Luka, there was no leaving the dog there to die. We made room in our vehicle for him as well and made an emergency trip to our vet immediately. Once at the vet, they determined that it had been approximately three weeks (not 3 days) that Luka had walked around in that condition (interested adopters can e-mail asking us for pictures - they are just too graphic to post here). There were a lot of ups and downs and we thought we were going to lose him for a short time...but after a blood transfusion, cleaning out the internal and external parasites, getting his strength back with nutrition and getting what was left of his leg off, Luka's health dramatically improved! This boy is now happy, healthy and a new dog! His personality is really coming out now! He is playful, loves to chew on sticks and toys and enjoys playing with the other dogs. He is now crate trained, walks on a leash, is good in a fenced yard for playtime and really enjoys living indoors now! Luka will be ready for adoption in another week (he has to fully recover from his amputation before he can undergo neuter surgery) but we are accepting applications on this gorgeous boy now! If you have a soft spot in your heart and home for Luka, contact us at info,caresga@gmail,com. We do ship north and all over so please just ask for details. A vet reference is required to ensure a great home for Luka (you must have owned a pet so we can verify their level of care).

Adoption fees for puppies are $300, adults dogs are $250 and senior dogs are $150. This includes each animal being current on age appropriate vaccinations including DHPPL, bordetella and rabies, de-wormed for any internal parasites (round worms, hook worms, tape worms and whipworms), tested heart-worm negative (if positive, they are treated), tested negative for tick borne diseases, spayed/neutered, implanted with a mini micro-chip and have been examined by a veterinarian to certify that they are healthy. All animals are also on a monthly regime of flea and heartworm medication. Lifetime registration for the micro-chip is included in each adoption fee. In addition, each adopter will go home with a fitted collar, tags, a bag of dog food the pet has been on, Forti-Flora, and an adoption kit filled with valuable information and coupons as well as other various treats or toys as promotions become available. All puppy adoptions include a puppy training book, the Puppy Primer by Patricia McConnell, to help ensure a smooth transition for your new family member.
We ask that you consider an additional donation on top of this pet's adoption fee. This money will go directly into our Adoption Fund to be used exclusively for rescuing and caring for other pets in need. Many pets we take in have very high vet bills to get them healthy and adoptable for the public - much higher than their adoption fees. We receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from our community and caring adopters to continue our rescue efforts!
