About Greyhounds of the Verde Valley

About Our Rescue Group...

Greyhounds of the Verde Valley (GVV) started in 2007 when we rescued 2 greyhounds from the Tucson AZ race track. We are an all volunteer rescue group dedicated to saving the lives of these wonderful animals.
When greyhounds have been retired from racing, they are kept in cages up to 20 hours a day at the track until someone agrees to rescue them. GVV does not have a shelter so we need volunteers who are willing to save a greyhound's life and foster one of these beautiful dogs until a forever home can be found. Please consider volunteering for any of the many jobs we have as part of this rescue operation. We need people to attend Meet & Greet adoption events, to transport greyhounds from Tucson or Sedona to their foster or forever homes, help with raising funds, training, and anything you could think of to help.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Monthly Adoption events include:
** 2nd Saturday of the month at Petsmart in Flagstaff
** 3rd Saturday of the month at Petco in Flagstaff
** 4th Saturday of the month at Petsmart in Sedona (Safeway Plaza)

Our Adoption Process...

If you would like to adopt a greyhound, please fill out an application and one of our volunteers will get in touch with you to schedule a home visit. Generally a $225 donation fee is requested at the time of the visit when we place the dog. This helps us offset a portion of the costs to spay/neuter, vaccinate, transport and feed our foster dogs. There is a 2 week 'introduction' period for you and your new greyhound before we consider the adoption permanent. There are several documents to sign, including your agreement to return the greyhound to us at anytime you cannot care for it.
