I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and not good with cats.
7 year old male Spike comes to us from one of our local shelters where he was found as a stray. He is approximately 7 years old and weighs about 40 lbs, but is on the skinny side and could gain some weight to fill out! He is deaf and partly blind, not sure if this is related to his current eye infection and/or entropion. We will get a better handle on his vision once his eye infection is treated. He has just been neutered and fully vetted. He is heartworm positive and will need to be adopted locally so we can continue to pay for his HW treatment with our local vet in Lake Worth, FL. During his treatment, he will need to be crated and/or have limited exercise/activity for about 4 months, to minimize the risk of complications from the treatment.
We are in the initial stages of evaluating this sweet boy, but so far he has been non-reactive to dogs and cats, and has been great with children. He is crate, potty and leash trained.

About Our Rescue Group...
We are an all-foster volunteer rescue organization of bull terrier lovers dedicated to rescuing bull terriers in crisis and finding them permanent homes. Bull Terrier Rescue of the Sunshine State is a new rescue, but we are old hands at rescuing bull terriers. Our volunteers have all played key roles at other bull terrier rescues and decided now was the time to begin our own.
Our goal is simple - save as many bull terriers as we can. Many of you know us already. We look forward to meeting those who don't. We don't relish the spotlight. It's the dogs that deserve to be front and center. Bull Terrier Rescue of the Sunshine State will put the bullies first.
We don't care how hard it is or how hopeless it may seem. We will not shy away from rescuing older bullies. We will not turn our backs on sick or injured bullies. It's the right thing to do.
Our success will ultimately depend on you. We will need fosters. We will need home checks and help with transport. We will need to fundraise to pay for dog food and vet bills. Lastly, we will need adopters. We can do this together. We need to do this together. These dogs deserve better. People have failed them. We will not.
We are now officially a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization as of 8/27/2015.
Our Adoption Process...
We require an adoption form to be filled out, a home check to be done, and there is a nominal fee per dog to cover vetting, food, etc. All of our dog reside in foster homes and we decide when they are in optimal shape to be adoptable. Our dogs are not in kennels or boarding facilities. Each dog's adopt fee is decided per animal and per circumstance.
