I am already spayed, purebred, up to date with shots, and good with dogs.
Every single Boxer that makes it’s way to ABR makes a journey toward a better life. That journey is more difficult for some than for others. Meet Chianti and her journey from forgotten to family.
Chianti is a very pretty 2 year old girl with a flashy fawn coat, natural ears, a full tail and full time smile. She travelled a long distance from Midland-Odessa to her foster home in the Austin area. Finally in a safe, warm foster home Chianti suddenly lost her sight and her appetite. Losing weight, becoming lethargic and going blind was not the expected next step on Chianti’s journey. Once she was diagnosed with a tick borne illness and prescribed antibiotics and preventive medications her appetite returned and her eyesight is returning too. A very rough start for a very sweet girl. Remarkably she is heartworm negative.
Chianti loves to stick her head out the window during car rides, go for walks, and lounge in the back yard. She is learning how to jog with her foster mom and is already up to 30 minutes! Chianti’s progress learning skills to live with humans was set back a bit by her illness so she’s working on them and is making good progress again. She does not like being left alone for extended periods in her crate so she and her foster mom are working on that too.
Chianti is very good with people and has done very well with the children she’s met in her home and neighborhood. She also lives with cats who are mostly ignored. She has done well with other dogs even though she has not had much opportunity to play so far. Chianti is sweet and calm most of the time. Her journey from forgotten to family is back on track. Are you ready for the rest of the journey with her?
