Bow Wow's Story...
Bow Wow's Story...
Are you ready for a big male with a flashy fawn coat? Bow Wow is 2 years old and a tall, skinny 60 pounds. He was hit by a car and the owner declined to claim him from the shelter. Better for him so his ABR foster parents can help his scrapes heal. He’s a good guy who lives with other dogs and cats. He is heartworm positive and as do all of our rescues from south Texas, is taking preventive medication for tick borne illnesses common there. Heartworm treatment need not be anything more than routine medication now, and ABR always helps the furever family.
Bow Wow is still very timid and fearful of being hit by humans. When he learns you won’t hit him he wants to be as close as possible to you. Loves and pets and soft words help him gain trust and confidence. He is housetrained and crate trained and does a perfect loose leash walk. He lives with cats and other dogs and while he likes playing with them a little, he can be overwhelmed by the play. He just needs baby steps and reassurance as he gains confidence and trust that was eroded by the prior abuse.
Bow Wow is a sweet velcro guy who is gradually learning he is safe. His confidence is slowly growing now he doesn’t have to fear being hit by humans, so he can explore and risk being curious again. He’s just a big sweetheart who needs patience, guidance, and a lot of love.
Our mission: To balance the health, safety, and welfare needs of canines in the Central Texas area by providing nourishment and a safe environment for unwanted, stray, abused, and impounded Boxers. Once placed in new homes they become more than just pets, they become family.
