Star's Story...
Talk about a beautiful girl! Star is a 12 year old spayed lab mix. Her owners became sick and could no longer care for her. Star was turned in with her fur-brother, Patch, who is a 12 year old neutered Jack Russel Terrier. Star and Patch both have done well with other dogs at the shelter so far. They also have done good with cats! A home with other older and relaxed dogs would be perfect for these two! Star is very anxious and stressed out here, despite how hard we are working with her to keep her calm. Her hips also seem to bother her a bit, which is understandable as she is 12 years old. We would love to find Patch and Star a home where they can live out their golden years together - they have lived together for 12 years and are hoping to continue to do so. Can you open your home to these lovely seniors?

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Star, a Michigan City Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Michigan City, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Michigan City.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Michigan City already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Michigan City breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Michigan City paves the way for another one to be saved.
