CHAMP's Story...
Update on Champ from his Foster Family 11-16-16: What is another word for “Loyal”? CHAMP!!!! That about sums him up in a nutshell. Champ is loyal to the extreme and such a fun goofball which makes him so endearing. You will also be amazed at how docile of a dog he is. He is not hyper or rowdy even though he is still young. Champ was literally hours from being euthanized in a high-kill shelter. What an incredible loss that would have been for a family or person who is searching for a loyal, calm companion who has so much love to give. But thanks to Dolly’s Legacy, this amazing boy was rescued and has made such a positive impact on his foster humans. Never has a foster dog so truly and unconditionally want to bond and be in the presence of his human. Champ’s idea of heaven would be lying next to his human while chewing a bone. He gets along great with big and small dogs and will play appropriately no matter what size. Champ has never displayed even the slightest sign of aggression - it’s just not who he is. He adores people and kids, walks great on a leash and is very smart and trainable. Champ is house-broken and kennel trained. He isn’t a barker, loves to give non-stop kisses and will instantly flop to the floor at the slightest sign of a potential belly rub. This is a dog who is invested in being part of a family, both physically and emotionally. You really can see his love for his humans when you look into his eyes.

Orginal Bio: Champ melts the hearts of everyone who has the pleasure of meeting him. He is such a lovable boy who will roll over for some good belly scratchins' and promptly thank you like a perfect gentleman. He has great manners with everyone he meets whether human or furry, including kids, cats, and even tiny teacup Chihuahuas (he tries every so gently to entice them into playtime, but they aren't having it!). Champ loves to romp in the yard and also does great on leash walks. Once playtime is over, he is quite the snuggler and will cozy right into you; the perfect movie-watching companion or self-appointed heater for cold winter nights. Champ was rescued as part of our "Clear the Shelter Campaign" when Dolly's Legacy rescued every animal from a rural Oklahoma shelter, all whom were slated to be killed.

Champ was born approximately January 2016, weighs 45 lbs (he could put on a few pounds still) and appears to be a mix of Cattle Dog/German Short Hair Pointer and Chocolate Labrador Retriever. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative & dewormed. He is heartworm negative & was given a Pro-Heart injection for six months of heartworm preventative protection. He was found on xray to have an old injury to a rear leg that he is on anti-inflammatory medication for & is feeling better after resting it (although he isn't happy about not getting his usual playtime). Why Adoption is a Great Option

CHAMP, a Lincoln Cattle Dog/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cattle Dog/Labrador Retriever for sale in Lincoln, or seeking a Cattle Dog/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Lincoln.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lincoln already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lincoln breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cattle Dog/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Cattle Dog/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lincoln paves the way for another one to be saved.
