Just a month after her arrival, sugar Magnolia is already looking like a new dog! The mange has been treated in accordance with veterinary protocols and her fur is growing in very nicely now. "Mags" is in a loving foster home and is getting all of the TLC that she could ever hope for! Her foster mom tells us, "She likes her toys and eats all that I give her. She has not tried to jump, climb, or dig under my fence. She does not come when called yet - we are working on that! She likes her privacy when she does her business and likes to poo behind the bushes. She is okay in her crate, decent on the leash, and rides nicely in the car. I don't think she has been in a home before coming to our house. She is fascinated when we put the TV on. She is going to be a lap dog - I put her on my lap and she stayed right there! She is a puppy, has puppy energy, and likes to pick up things. Her favorite spot in the house is near the locked front door, where she can lay in the sun and look out at the world going by. On some days she goes to daycare and has gotten good report cards. She even has a little playmate already!"
This little Golden mix is about 8 months old. She gets along nicely with other dogs and would be fine with dog savvy children. She would probably be okay with a cat who does not run and become something fun to chase. Little Mags has been brought up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed, and is micro-chipped. She tested negative for heartworm - yeah! Take a look at this sweet baby in her video!
The shelter workers did not think anyone would adopt Magnolia, but fate would not allow that! We know Magnolia has a place in this world. Perhaps, that place is in your home – lovingly in your arms – as your dog. Please keep watch as we update her progress and watch her blossom into the dog she is deep inside. She will be ready to come north in mid-November.

The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home.

A contract is signed the day of adoption. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring the rescue to a vet within 7 business days. The dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. If your vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog is returned and a full refund is provided.
Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed.
Please be a ray of light for this Sunshine dog and make a tax deductible donation toward medical and other expenses. Every cent of your generosity goes directly toward the care of a Sunshine dog.
