for one too. Find a pet to adopt.

Phoebe's Info...

I am already spayed, housetrained, purebred, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, not good with kids, and not good with cats.

Phoebe's Story...
If you are not in a position to adopt but you have German Shorthaired Pointer experience, please contact brianne@michianahumanesociety.org if you are interested in fostering Phoebe! There are several rescues interested in her, but we need a home for her to go to.

Phoebe is a 2-3 year old spayed German Shorthaired Pointer. She is an energetic girl and would love to find a home where she can run and stretch her legs! Phoebe has some challenges younger children, so would prefer any children in the home to be about 12 and older. Phoebe most likely would do best as the only animal in the home. However, with an experienced owner, she may be able to be integrated into a home with a resident dog. It would also help if the owner was knowledgeable about the breed and behavior. Phoebe has a high prey drive and would prefer there to be no cats in her forever home. Phoebe is a smart girl and knows how to sit and she is a very polite leash walker! The ideal home for Phoebe would be one where her owners are home majority of the time, she loves to be around people! Phoebe can be anxious at times so it would be beneficial if her owners continued to keep her occupied with fun stuff! She would make a fantastic jogging buddy as she just loves to run and is so good on leash! She definitely loves to be outside with her nose to the ground, like any typical Pointer. She was heartworm positive in June and has since completed treatment. She is due for her 6 month check up in April 2017. Phoebe loves to learn and is very intelligent. Come meet Phoebe, she'll be a wonderful forever dog!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Phoebe, a Michigan City German Shorthaired Pointer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shorthaired Pointer for sale in Michigan City, or seeking a German Shorthaired Pointer dog from a breeder in Michigan City.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Michigan City already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Michigan City breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shorthaired Pointer breeders who help with German Shorthaired Pointer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Michigan City paves the way for another one to be saved.
