Hi my name is Penny, and I'm a FEMALE STANDARD POODLE, and here are some things you should know about me:

Adoption fee is $600

Breed: Standard Poodle Approx age: 2 1/2 yrs
Color: APRICOT Spayed/neutered: YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES

HW Status: Negative and on monthly preventative
WT/size: Med 37lbs Microchipped: YES Housebroken: YES Crate trained: NO
Fenced yard required: Would be very helpful for her energy.
Jump fences: NO Leash walk: Needs work, she pulls, foster works with her daily. Obedience training: NO
Rides well in vehicles: CRATED Personality: Starts out mellow in the house, loves to lounge around, but yet loves to go for nice long walks and play with large dogs or kids.

Penny loves kids of all ages. She cannot be around ANY small animals, they trigger her prey drive and she will pull with all her might to get to them while on leash. Yet when inside or her fenced yard she is calm, cuddly, gentle and also eager to play. She does great in a fenced yard where she loves playing fetch and being with other large dogs and kids make her extremely happy. Penny would benefit greatly with a home which is very active in walking or jogging at least an hour or so daily. She is used to a 45 - 1 hour brisk jog in the morning and a brisk walk 30-45 mins in the evening.
Energy level: Med-High
Social with other dogs: NO SMALL ANIMALS AT ALL, BUT LOVES LARGE DOGS Social with cats: NO
Grooming: She will need regular brushing and grooming, so this should be considered as an expense if owning a dog of this breed.
Good with children: YES
History: Penny was an owner surrender in really bad shape. She had only been groomed 3 times in her life. She was not socialized at all with small animals, and since she lived on a farm she was allowed to chase chickens, rabbits, & squirrels. So no small animals for this girl. She is loving, yet can be independent. She loves being with people, especially kids and of course large breed dogs that love to play. Penny is still young and energetic, yet not hyper. Please don't ask if you can slowly work her with small dogs being around if kept separate. This is no way for dogs to live and it could cause an animal to be harmed, so we will not place her with small animals.

If you think might be the perfect pet for you /family, please email PAWSAVER4U@GMAIL.COM for an application.

SSR DOES NOT ALLOW THE USE OF ELECTRIC/INVISIBLE OR UNDERGROUND FENCES OR SHOCK COLLARS OF ANY KIND. IF YOU ADOPT AND WE FIND THAT ANY OF THIS IS BEING USED, THE CANINE WILL BE TAKEN BACK INTO RESCUE. We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 3-7 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses AND phone numbers for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process, so emails are much preferred. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. We do NOT adopt to families with animals which have not been spayed/neutered. When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, an adoption contract to be signed, and there is an adoption fee to be paid. All adopters must be 21 or older. Once the preliminary application is approved a home visit is required to complete the adoption process. All adopters must enter into a legal and binding contract upon completion of the adoption.
