Zuko's Story...
Say hello to ZUKO. This smiling gentleman is an approximately 2 to 3 year old Boxer mix who first found himself in the shelter as a stray puppy in 2014. After being in the shelter for almost a year, he was finally adopted into a loving home. Sadly, his owner lost his job and his home and, heartbroken, had to return Zuko to the shelter after having him for over a year.

Zuko is a very friendly boy who isn't shy about giving out tons of kisses. He has learned basic commands, how to walk well on a leash, is UTD on shots, altered, and people friendly. He is still a young and happy playful dog who has lots of energy and love to give. Zuko can belong to almost any home because he is such a people-pleaser, and would do best in a home that offers long walks for consistent exercise or a yard to play in.

If you would like to meet Zuko, call us at (973) 748-0194 and make arrangements for a meet-and-greet! Or, stop by the Bloomfield Animal Shelter during daily adoption hours Sunday-Saturday 12pm-5pm at 61 Bukowski Pl. Bloomfield, NJ 07003.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Zuko, a Bloomfield Boxer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Boxer for sale in Bloomfield, or seeking a Boxer dog from a breeder in Bloomfield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bloomfield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bloomfield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Boxer breeders who help with Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bloomfield paves the way for another one to be saved.
