My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Kelly!
Lab Mix
Approx. 3 years old

Kelly is an absolute love bug, who will steal your heart. She is a 3 year old lab mix. Right now she is 44 lbs, but needs to gain a little bit of weight. Kelly has never lived with a family or in a home before coming to us, but you would never know it with her personality. She loves to cuddle! She would spend all day either hugging (yes, she loves to give hugs) or just being by your side or resting her head on your lap.

She loves to give kisses and nothing makes her happier than being with people. In spite of her living in a shelter her entire life, she did amazingly well in our home. She immediately took to her crate and her blanket - it is her favorite place to hang out during quiet times. She is working on the potty training and she seems to be picking it up very quickly. As long as you let her out often, she knows what outside is for.

Kelly is very good on the leash, and enjoys short walks as long as it is still light out. Not living outside a shelter, all the changes are new to her and the dark seemed to confuse her. Kelly seems to love other dogs and has shown an interest in playing, without any aggression. Kelly's energy level has been growing a bit more everyday. She is finally enjoying playing fetch and loves to run around the yard, however she seems to enjoy nap time just as much.

Kelly has the potential to be very fast. Although she never seemed to want to get too far from us, a fenced yard would be recommend. Kelly is crate trained. Kelly needs a little bit of help with training and obedience, as she is very puppy like with her behavior, but she is so smart and eager to please that I know she would be the perfect dog with a little bit of training and a lot of love!

Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments. Fostering is a rewarding experience for your family.
