Update from Surely's foster mom: We have had Surely for a few days now! Let's just say if a dog could be close to perfect, Surely would be that dog! She loves other dogs (both small & large), she is the submissive dog however so her potential adopter would want to make sure that their dog is not overly dominant for her. With that being said she would do great with other dogs, but she also would be fine being the only dog. Surely is cat tested and did great with cats! She ignores that they are there, however if our cat wants to see Surely, Surely greets her with a wagging tail. She is great with everyone, kids included. You can tell deep down in her eyes she has gone through a lot. She is loyal and will follow you around the house, always with her tail wagging. She is fully house trained. She does need reassurance when she is outside that she's a good girl. Sometimes we ignore her because she's so loyal she wants pets and forgets that it's time for her to do her business. We haven't had one accident with her... Surely is also crate trained. At times she will put herself to bed which is fine because that's her comfort zone. She rarely barks, however she does like people who walk by to know she's there so she can get more love. Her potential adopter will need to realize she is a rescue dog and with that it will take time for her to fully be herself. If there is a loud noise she either runs to her crate or starts to shake. We constantly reassure her and that seems to be working wonders! She walks well on a leash, but I would highly recommend using a harness to walk her along with a collar for the first bit then slowly transitioning to a harness only (she does not pull however if she is only on a collar she flips to get out of it and pulls) She's an utterly amazing pup, and anyone would be lucky to welcome Surely to their family.
Sweet Surely sat in the shelter for months when finally her time was up. She had only two more days to live when we came upon her plea for help. Nope, her name is not misspelled... everyday, the lady at the shelter would tell her... "Surely one day you'll find a home...". Pets Alive Niagara is going to do that for her.
