Balto's Story...
Balto sure has not had an easy life. He was picked up by Animal Control in June, missing most of his fur from Demodex mange. Thankfully Demodex is not contagious, however it’s very uncomfortable for the dog. By August treatment was completed and Balto was finally clear of mites. The secondary bacterial skin infection was cleared up as well. A big guy at 100 lbs, Balto is estimated to be about 7 years of age. He seems to be friendly with other dogs, although with his size, a large female companion would be best as he tends to overwhelm smaller dogs. Using an EZ (or Sensation) harness would help control when walking Balto as he does pull on leash. With love, healthy meals and exercise, Balto’s fur should grow back and he’ll be even more handsome. His adoption fee is $250. Please request an application from
