Cookie and Panda's Story...
Cookie and Panda are two adorable girls looking for a home together.
They were surrendered by their previous guardians due to lack of time. The girls lost the only family they had ever known, and were heartbroken. It doesn’t matter that this family didn’t take proper care of them as evidenced by their overgrown nails, complete unfamiliarity with any kinds of greens, and being housed in a cage too small to sustain even one guinea pig.
Not long after Empty Cages took the ladies into our care, did we see a big transformation! They went from hiding, or being frozen when touched, to being courageous, happy, inquisitive and trusting guinea pigs. The girls now love exploring their spacious cage, spending 3-4 hours daily in a play pen, running full speed through tunnels, rearranging and decorating their hay hideouts. They now know what joy a freshly made salad is, and get very excited by a fridge opening. In fact, when salad time comes at Empty Cages Brooklyn rescue center, ALL the guinea pigs get into a capella mode.
It is quite heartwarming to hear their happy, and often demanding, song. The excitement is barely sustainable from the time the faucet runs, to the time a salad it presented to the guinea pig gang.
Both Cookie and Panda are around 1.5 years old, healthy, American Guinea Pigs, and they're ready for their new lives to begin.
