Zeus's Story...
Rescued from a busy Buffalo highway, Zeus, a shepherd mix, is a giant goofball. He is only about 2 and still has some filling out to do; once he's a "big boy" he will reach about 90 pounds. Because of his size, he would do well with older children. Zeus loves to play and loves to cuddle; he keeps his kennel clean and knows several tricks. He does still need some work, though, especially with walking nicely on a leash. He does not get along well with other male dogs, though he may take to a female. He is highly intelligent and tries hard to please his people. This is the perfect dog for a strong, active owner. Zeus's adoption fee is $150, and a home visit and references, including a vet, are required.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Zeus, a Dunkirk German Shepherd Dog/Husky dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog/Husky for sale in Dunkirk, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog/Husky dog from a breeder in Dunkirk.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Dunkirk already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Dunkirk breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog/Husky breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog/Husky rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Dunkirk paves the way for another one to be saved.
