Lightning's Story...
Lightning was born approx October 2014. He is a really sweet boy with a gentle soul who wants to be loved and loves being petted. He weighs 30 lbs. His markings are spectacular like a Rotti and he is a compact little guy like a basset. He is excited for his new loving furever home where he will be truly appreciated and loved. He was an owner surrender at the shelter because he could not walk on leash. He does fine on leash but is nervous of sights and sounds as clearly he has not been exposed to the world around him.

Stop by and meet our pets on SATURDAYS or if you are not able, email to arrange a convenient time to meet the pet. Adoption events are Saturday from 11 am to 3pm at R and R Pet Lifestyle and Supply at 2780 Tapo Canyon Road, Simi Valley (SE corner of Tapo Canyon and Alamo), except holiday weekends. Please email (staff@arvsimi.org) ahead to make sure a particular pet will be at adoptions.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lightning, a Simi Valley Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound for sale in Simi Valley, or seeking a Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Simi Valley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Simi Valley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Simi Valley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound breeders who help with Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Simi Valley paves the way for another one to be saved.
