Here's what the humans have to say about me:
With his wolfishly good looks and outdoorsy build Luka makes you think of dog sled races in the north country, alpine ski trips, or wilderness adventures in Alaska, but don’t be fooled by Luka’s strong and rugged demeanor; this approximately 6 year old, 60-65 lb Husky/Shepherd mix is every bit the gentle canine and is so well mannered that one of our volunteers described him as “a real pleasure” to take to the animal hospital for his routine wellness appointment. Because Luka came to us as a stray we don’t know a lot about him but we do know that someone in his life cared enough to have him neutered, and taught him to “sit,” “wait,” and “down,” so it’s puzzling that he ended up as a stray. Luka waits patiently in his kennel to be led outside and carries himself with dignity; he doesn’t fence fight with the other dogs; he walks by them nicely on his leash; he loves playing in the yard, but he also stands and gently sniffs and licks your face while you give him a good hug around the neck and scratch his ruff. Luka is a Zen dog--in the midst of chaos he remains as calm and steady as they come; when you are with him he makes you feel anchored to the things in life that really matter; if houses were still built the way they were in the olden days, Luka is definitely the dog you would want lying at your feet in front of the family hearth.
