My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

TRUMAN: 3 Year Chocolate Male Neutered Lab 75 Pounds

Truman was purchased from a breeder and his family got him at 12 weeks of age. They really love Truman but they know it is best to find him a new home as they are never home! They say he is a very lovable boy, he is great with kids, Truman is always the submissive one if any of the other dogs get in a scuffle. He is left alone during the day and does not get into things, is not an excessive barker but we want a home that will give him the time and attention he deserves. He loves to be around his pack, he sleeps in his crate at night, and knows many commands. Sit, stay, down, come, fetch, drop and leave it. Truman will jump up on people, he does need a refresher with his leash skills, loves to swim and play fetch! We are not sure about Truman and cats in the home.

This is from the GGLRR volunteer who met Truman:

Truman needs a job! This healthy young purebred chocolate Lab has an impressive skills list: Sit, stay, high five, fetch and come! While he has been well cared for and is loved, Truman has way too much time on his paws, due to job changes and a busy schedule for his human family. He's only 3 years old, and needs more exercise and company than he's getting these days, so his humans called Lab Rescue to see if we could find him a suitable home. He's crate trained, obeys voice commands, likes to swim, and loves having his human family around, but these days there's no one home during the day, so he got bored and ate some socks. He's too lively for small children, but active kids over 10 would be great companions for Truman. He pulls on leash (Needs more walks!) and is friendly and playful with other dogs. We don't know how he feels about cats. He will jump up to say hello, but he takes correction well. For example, he hasn't had any more socks for lunch!

Truman is very healthy boy – current on his shots, neutered, heartworm negative and microchipped.

He is located in Vacaville.

If you are looking for an active boy, please email Rescue Rep Liz at liz@jobshopsf.com or call 415-613-6374.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
