Pumkin's Story...
Beautiful Pumkin here! I am a sweet and adorable senior lady looking for a family to finally call my own! I am what the folks here call a super senior and they tell me my superpower is "purrr-suasion" because I will definitely persuade you to take me home to snuggle! I was found as a stray and I can't quite remember how I came to be abandoned. I try not to let my rough start in life get the best of me, so I am putting my best paw forward and jumping back into the game! At my age I like to enjoy the calmer side to life and I like to spend a lot of my time lounging in a warm bed or on sunny perch. I am excited and ready to find a family! Could that family be yours? Stop by and visit with me today!
Before making the trip to visit the shelter we strongly recommend checking our website for information on adoption policies and procedures. Please understand that because we are a busy place and because so many animals need our care and attention, adoptions are on a first come basis and no animal will be put on hold. To inquire about a pet's availability or for more information, we encourage you to visit our shelter in person. Due to the high volume of interest, email and phone inquiries may not be returned on a daily basis. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to your visit! www.capeannanimalaid.org 978-283-6055 ex 10 for reception desk

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Pumkin, a Gloucester Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Gloucester, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Gloucester.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Gloucester already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Gloucester breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Gloucester paves the way for another one to be saved.
