Lucy (in New Hampshire's Story...
Lucy is timid at first but once she has a chance to be with you for a bit she will stay close with and loves belly rubs. Lucy is social with other dogs, she has not had any contact with cats. She is fairly well behaved on a leash but prefers to just follow you. When picking her up, she needs a hand under her back legs to feel secure. She will use stairs to get into bed and onto the couch. Lucy has a favorite blankie and where you place it, that is where she will lay. Lucy has been trained to use pee pads, but is learning it is okay to do her business outside. She is given a treat every time she does use the outdoors. She is learning fast! Lucy has a good appetite and will check out any other dishes to make sure all food has been cleaned up. Lucy likes her tricks, especially if there are treats involved. She will do a high five, sit and come on command. A treat is guaranteed to get you a high five! You only have to look at her for the tail to wag and it seems to never stop! If you are interested in adopting Lucy, please complete an adoption application on our website www.papadopters.com
PapAdopters was started by dedicated Papillon owners who recognized that there are many Papillons each year who are surrendered for various reasons. We are a 100% volunteer foster home based organization with foster homes throughout the country. We do our best to ensure that every adoption is made carefully, attempting to put the dog into the best fit home as possible. We operate solely through adoption donations and fund raisers. We are always looking for new volunteers and foster homes. We believe that helping these homeless animals to a better future enriches our lives just as much as it does theirs.
Come Meet Our Pets...
We do not allow on-site adoptions.
Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption process begins with a submitted application. The application requires 2 personal references and a vet reference. After receipt of the application, an in-depth phone interview will be done. If there is a possible fit for the dog in question, we will call the references, schedule a meet and greet with the applicant and the dog and schedule a home visit. The results of these activities are documented in writing. The foster home submits these documents to the board members with a recommendation to approve or not approve the adoption. Adoption fees are on a sliding scale based on the dog's age.
