I am already neutered, purebred, and up to date with shots.
Felix and Ignatius were born into rescue on June 25. As of this writing (September 18th) they are 12 weeks old. They are full breed, white and black Japanese Chin puppies. Their mother, Secret, was purchased at a breeder dog auction. She came from a formerly respected Chin breeder who became greedy and put two dozen of these prized dogs in the auction in the heart of puppy mill country. Isn't that lovely? The Japanese Chin club found out about the situation and members were instrumental in helping us get 8 Chin away from the breeders and into rescue. We thank them sincerely for pulling together to accomplish this task. Secret is the last of the adults that we brought home from the auction as she turned out to be pregnant. These two little fluff balls weigh about 3 - 4 pounds each and will probably grow to be 10 pounds or less. Although they are super cute, we do ask that you do your research if not familiar with the breed. Japanese Chin are described as being cat like, they will shed a good deal when adults if not brushed daily and have a flat face, like pugs, so cannot tolerate heat. Like most very small dogs, the best homes for them will not be full of young children. It's not safe for the dogs or the kids. If nothing else, you might consider sliding by Kirkwood Petco when we are there to see these two darling boys and their mom. Hopefully pictures are soon to come --- new computer, old camera --- 'nuff said?
The adoption fee for Felix is $350. Each of our dogs is up to date on all shots, including rabies, spayed or neutered, microchipped, fecal tested for internal parasites, treated if necessary, tested for heartworm, treated if necessary, on heartworm preventative and we also take care of dentals or any other medical needs they may have. With your dog, you will receive a health booklet detailing everything that we have done to be sure that they are in the best of health and all spiffed up to be your treasured pet.
Can't adopt right now? Consider sponsoring the care of this dog and other chihuahuas in need.
