My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ARCHIE – adorable puppy - - look at that cute, fluffy, curly tail!!

This 9-month-old, 19.5 lb., male sweetie would adore cuddling on the couch with you to watch TV. Archie is a laid-back, terrier mix (possibly Cairn and Welsh Terrier mixes) with loads of personality. He’s a bit shy when first meeting you, yet will be your best friend within a day or two. He gets along with other dogs, unknown with the kitties. He was rescued with his sister, Abby. Both pups were previously in a home where they just had too many 4-legged pooches so the family had to doggie down-size due to home owner’s restrictions. They can be adopted together or separately. We feel he’ll be a small to medium-sized dog. He is in superior health and physical shape!

Archie absolutely loves people, once he gets to know them. He’s affectionate, very sweet and loves to play with you. He has been recently vaccinated with his rabie’s and distemper-parvo shots, has been neutered, and had his toe nails trimmed. He’s also crate-trained and knows how to sit on command. He likes to jump up on people for affection, so older children would be able to tell him to stay down. He’ll make a wonderful companion. Archie is a low-shedder but will routinely need his coat brushed, not sure how he will be with a bath? This younger pup is almost house-broken, but needs some consistency with getting him out-side promptly after his over-night sleep and crating time (Archie does not mess in his crate). Also, for his bathroom duties, he is a squatter (at this time) rather than hiking his leg. He is a quiet boy and will sleep peacefully through the night. No doubt, he will make a great bed partner once he is fully potty-trained.

Going on a walk, don’t leave him behind as he LOVES getting out and smelling the world’s odors. He needs a bit of some leash training but he is small enough that he won’t drag you down the street. He is a bit skiddish with loud noises, just beware so Archie won’t try to escape from you while on a leash walk if the trash truck comes by or he hears other unexpected surprise sounds. Archie has not been exposed to many car rides, but with some time, he will get acclimated soon Archie is a clean boy and does not make a mess with his food or water bowl – NEAT AND ORDERLY PUP! He has no aggressions with his food when eating near his sister, and he also will be a candidate for free-feeding as he does not over-eat. He seems to prefer mostly dry food rather than much wet food co-mingled with his kibble.

Archie is a good boy and does not destroy personal things, although he is kenneled during short absences from home. He is playful and enjoys his toys and chew bones. He is not a barker by nature, but will alert you to strangers approaching your home.

Take a look at Archie and Abby in action (kind of hard to tell, but Archie is the one who keeps his ears up most of the time):

Archie is in a private foster home so we are able to get to know this boy’s likes, dis-likes, behaviors, and personality. If you are looking for an adorable sweet puppy, than Archie is the one for you!
