Nuggets is the Dane and Maggy is the Neo. These two pups have been together since they were six-weeks-old and are now just turned six-years-old. We would really prefer to keep the two of them together and will waive the adoption fee for one should you be awesome enough to open your heart and home to the two of them. They came from a loving home that turned into a horrible situation which forced the owner to surrender them to rescue. They have never been abused, they have been very loved from the day the owner got them. Maggy is more outgoing, loves to go for car rides, loves to sniff around and be adventurous. Nugget is more reserved and just takes things in stride. Both exceptional pups that are very confused and must remain together and be loved as they have been their entire lives.

If a dog is listed, the dog is available. We respond to all emails within two hours between 8am and 8pm CST. If between 8pm and 8am we will respond the following morning. We are by appointment only and only after verification. We are closed Mon-Wed for adoptions. We do not hold any dog if an approved homes comes for them and they are the perfect fit after meeting them.

Please tell us about yourself, family, lifestyle, other pets, children, and guardian breed or bully breed experience when contacting us. We do not ship our dogs, you must come to our location in Sylacauga AL 35151 to meet them and for us to meet you. At that time we will go over all training of your new dog so, please plan on being here a minimum of one hour.

Our screening process must be completed prior to meeting any dog. If you do not pass initial screening there is no reason to meet our dogs as it is a waste of both of our time:

1) We require a letter of reference from your veterinarian or their information for us to contact them for a reference. If providing the reference from them we are looking for: Current pets are altered, on HW prevention, flea prevention, received Rabies vaccination, and all medical they may have needed as advised by your vet. It must be on company letterhead as we will contact them to confirm.

2) A video tour of your yard and home to make sure suitable for the dog you are inquiring about. Please email to us at

3) A copy of your DL, Passport, Visa

Our screening process is not negotiable, it is set in place to protect our dogs, you the general public, and your current pets and children. If not willing to provide all of the information to ensure the safety of the dog you are inquiring about then please do not waste our time contacting us. If it states the dog cannot be placed with other dogs, then no other dogs, your dog is not the exception just because your dog is friendly and loves everything. While we do not place aggressive dogs back in the general public, we give them sanctuary, not all dogs can peacefully live in a home with another dog. All dogs over six-months-old have been with us for a minimum of 30 days prior to being considered for adoption. All puppies have been with us a minimum of 14 days to insure free of contagious disease.

Our adoption fee's are nonnegotiable. The adoption fee does not come close to covering the care of the dog while with us however, the fee goes towards helping the next dog in need. If you cannot afford or are unwilling to pay the fee listed for a fully vetted, fully trained dog then you are not the home we are looking for, for one of our dogs.

We do not foster out our dogs, thank you but please do not ask to foster. We do not feel it is in the best interest in our dogs to be moved around from one home to the next. When they leave us they are going to their forever home.

All of our dogs come crate trained, leash trained, basic obedience trained, and are house broken. We back our dogs for life and will provide free training for them at our location if a behavior issue occurs, even 10 years from date of adoption. They are UTD on vaccinations, spayed or neutered, double microchipped. They are HW- and on prevention for HW's as well as flea & tick medication. In the event they are HW+ (the ad will state if so) we provide all medication to treat plus cover all medical related to until such time they receive two negative test results. HW treatment is noninvasive and simply giving oral medication cures the disease, it is nothing like it use to be.

Appearances can be deceiving. When in doubt about a breed or breeds of a dog, we do a DNA test. It will come with the dogs medical records at the time of adoption.

All of our dogs are on a raw diet, we do not use commercial dog food and we cannot recommend it. It is all bad for dogs, all of it, no matter what it cost it is killing dogs. Just Google the rendering process from which dog food is made. We strongly encourage our former dogs to remain on raw. It is very easy, cheaper than a high end grain free, and will keep your dog healthy and he/she will live years longer.

About Soldiers for Strays Rescue & Rehab East Coast

About Our Rescue Group...

The mission of Soldiers for Strays Rescue & Rehab is to not only help displaced Guardian and Bully Breeds find loving and safe homes, but to help displaced US Veterans with housing, employment, & stability so they may reenter and succeed in the civilian lifestyle. We also offer help and education with training, spay/neuter assistance, vaccinations, & veterinarian help to families in need so they may keep their dog's with them. We firmly believe any loving family should be able to keep their dog(s), coming into rescue is not always the answer.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are located in on Lay Lake in Fayetteville 35151. We are working on a second AL location in which we will be able to house Veterans in their own tiny houses with four dogs. This will help more Veterans in need and more dogs in need.

Our dogs are available world wide however, we do not ship our dogs. We require you and any children and other pets in the home to come and meet the dog you're interested in to make sure it is the perfect fit for all involved. We cannot guarantee the dog you come for is going to be the perfect fit for you and your family and be able to leave with them. If you are 110% upfront about yourselves when corresponding we will know if the dog you want is the dog for you. We live, eat, sleep, play, and train these dogs. No one knows them better and knows what it takes for them to thrive in their new homes. We set them up to stay with their new family, not be failed and returned.

We will not schedule a meet and greet prior to verification that you are a suitable home for the dog you have inquired about. We are not open to the general public as we schedule our dogs training around meeting their potential new families. We are available by appointment only, Thursday-Sunday 2pm-6pm.

If flying in to meet one of our dogs the closest major airport is Birmingham. We are 2.5 hours from ATL airport.

Please plan on being here a minimum of one hour to meet, spend time with, go over contract, and to go over training of your new family member.

Our Adoption Process...

Adoptions fee's are on a case by case basis. Each dog's listing has their adoption fee in it. Our fee's are not negotiable. If you are unwilling or unable to pay the adoption fee on a fully vetted, purebred ex-large breed then you are not the home we are looking for, for one of our dogs.

Dogs that are available as therapy, ESD, and Service dogs to Veterans are free of charge to qualifying veterans. Please note, not every dog is service dog material. Military, Veterans, Law Enforcement, Firemen, Paramedics are entitled to a discount.

1) We require a photo copy of your DL or Passport/Visa. In addition if you have a military ID presenting that as well will entitle you to a discount for the adoption fee.

2) We require a letter of reference from your veterinarian for past/current pets. Even if you have not owned a pet in numerous years, we must have your last veterinarian's letter of reference stating your dog(s) were well cared for, received all needed medical care, were/are altered, and if passed on COD.

3) We require a video tour of your home/yard/fence. You may need to break this down to a few video's to send to us which is fine.

4) If you rent: Letter from landlord stating you are allowed to have a dog and include the breed you are looking to adopt. This must include the landlords phone number as well as address. We do verify property owner through public records.

5) If you own: Letter from insurance agent or copy of policy stating you have no restrictions on tenacious breeds.

6) We will run a criminal background check. Any violent offenses or offense animal related automatically disqualify you.

7) A home check is required. If living outside of the area a home check will be performed by a reputable rescue.

Please tell us about yourself, family, lifestyle, current/past pets when contacting us. If an ad states guardian breed experience required, that means the dog is only available to someone with guardian breed experience. If you do not have this, please do not inquire. Pit Bull experience is NOT guardian breed experience. Pits are all about people, guardian breeds are all about their people.
