Our Adoption Process...
We take in and adopt out dogs, puppies, cats and kittens only. The potential adopter needs to visit our shelter and pick out an animal they are interested in. Once they have found an animal they like, they will need to fill out an adoption application and get approved by one of the shelter staff. Once approved they will need to read and sign our adoption contract and pay the fee.
Our Adoption Fees are:
* As of January 1, 2014 all canine adoption fees are $125 and feline adoption fees are $80, which includes: fee pays for heartworm testing for dogs, feline Leukemia/AIDS testing for cats, vaccinations & deworming for both, plus any additional veterinary care the animal may need.
The Tennessee Spay/Neuter Law says that any animal that comes from a humane society, shelter or rescue must be spayed or neutered.
This is very important in the fight against animal overpopulation.
We also have animals available at various adoption events. We take dogs to either Petsmart or Petco on Saturdays. Check our Upcoming Events link often for dates when we will be at these places.
* Cats are almost always placed as indoor pets.
* Dogs must be kept inside or in a fenced yard.
* No chains or runlines are accepted.
* Renters must have approval from their landlords
* JMCHS reserves the right to deny any adoptions.
* JMCHS reserves the right to complete home checks at random prior to and /or after the adoption.
