My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lady Lexie is a gorgeous tricolor Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that was released from a puppy mill in January of 2016 after she weaned her last litter. Unfortunately, Lexie did test positive for heartworms and was treated using a protocol developed by an LSU vet using the antibiotic doxycycline . The treatment has been completed and she is scheduled to be retested for heartworms soon. Lexie’s date of birth is 11/21/12. She weighed 17 pounds on 2/10/16. Lexie is housebroken and puppy pad trained, walks well on a leash, loves to ride in the car, and of course, gets along well with other dogs. Lexie has been spayed and brought up to date on vaccinations including Bordetella for kennel cough. Her heartworm status will be updated soon. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers.
After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home.
