My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there; my name is Thelma. Yep, that’s right, like the movie, “Thelma and Louise”. I was found about a year ago racing through the streets with my partner in crime, Louise. We were both really scared and had been on the lam for quite some time since we escaped our small crates where we were kept just for breeding purposes. Anyway, when this good Samaritan tried to approach us I just ran and almost got hit by this big truck with eighteen wheels. It was not long after that that I smelled something really good. It turned out to be little pieces of this good tasting Polish sausage that the crazy Samaritan had thrown down onto the pavement. I now realize that this is how he tricked me to get into his vehicle. Luckily, Louise was tricked at the same time so at least I had her there to comfort me.

The next thing I knew we were in this comfortable room where I received all this attention…including a bath, rub down and medicine to help heal my wounds. I cannot tell you how good this felt; no one had ever shown me or my friend such care. We just melted. Afterwards, my good Samaritan took us to his house where he had some extra room for us in his backyard. He let us know that it was only temporary as he already had eight dogs of his own and will need someone else to come along to give me, what he called, a “forever home”.

Well, to make a really long story a bit shorter, my friend and I got back into excellent health and conditioning, and even learned how to walk a human on a leash! My friend got the hang of it faster than I did and was much more comfortable on the streets around other dogs. She was always such a brown-noser; that’s why I think some humans wanted her so badly. I must admit, I don’t miss her at all! I now get all the attention, all the treats, the entire backyard to myself, and I don’t have to share my human walks with her anymore. Oh yeah, back to me. I’m now doing much, much better on a leash and it’s not so hard to walk my human anymore. I still get a bit scared when I see other dogs like me, but the more I’m out and about, the easier it gets. I think it has to do with the way my human treats me. He knows how to communicate with me through the leash. This gives me so much more confidence so I let him take over because I know that he will protect me and keep me safe. Oh, and I’m also really good at chasing my Jolly Ball. This helps me keep my bikini body all year around! And while I love to brag about myself, I do have a few shortcomings. (Note, I said “a few”.) Unfortunately, I understand that I have a problem with cats and/or anything small that runs. Yep, they should be kept far away from me. And….I’m selfish; I do not like to share my humans with any other dogs! I prefer to be the queen bee for sure, but I’m not ruling out the possibility that I won’t come around one day. Never say never right?!
