Sammy's Story...
Approximate Birth Date is August 27, 2016 - he is estimated to be 10 weeks old.. My husband calls this kitten Samson but I call him Sammy. He was picked up from the animal shelter on Hwy 49 in Concord by Marleen Jenkins and brought to us to foster. Sammy weighed only 11 ounces and was dehydrated and underweight. In fact we didn't expect him to make it until the next morning as he was dehydrated and not eating on his own. It took about two weeks to get him back on track. Soon he was playing and purring and acting like a baby kitten. He is eating Royal Canin baby cat and a little Fancy Feast canned food. Monday we will have him combo blood tested for FELV and FIV. He has been dewormed. Sammy has had his first distemper vaccine (on10/22/16) and will get his 2nd distemper vaccination on 11/12/16., He was treated for fleas with Capstar after being bathed, his ears checked and cleaned. Sammy is a playful little monster and loves to play. He is getting sweeter every day as we are giving him as much attention as possible.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sammy, a Harrisburg American Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Shorthair for sale in Harrisburg, or seeking a American Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Harrisburg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Harrisburg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Harrisburg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Shorthair breeders who help with American Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Harrisburg paves the way for another one to be saved.
