Facts about Vickie

  • Breed: Dachshund Mix
  • Color: Black - With White
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Female
What a doll this little one is! Originally adopted from us a few years ago, Vickie came back to our care following changes at home that left her alone for 10 to 13 hours a day. After being used to having someone home with her all day, this little 20-pounder had trouble adapting to being left alone for so long. Vickie had originally come to us as a stray from a high-kill pound, and is now about 4 years of age. Her breed mix is unknown, but she has somewhat of a Dachshund-type body. Vickie is very affectionate, and is used to living with a gentle little girl. She is also good with other dogs, and may well benefit from the company of another dog or even a cat for when her people have to go out. Vickie’s ideal home will have someone home with her for most of the day, either working from home, working part-time, or retired. A yard with lots of walks and stimulating play would also fulfill Vickie’s needs nicely. Please complete an adoption questionnaire at if you think you have the right home to offer. Vickie will be at our next adoption day at Mon Ami in Kirkland on Saturday, November 12 from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Details with a link to a Google map can be found on our website.

About Kiko Dog Rescue and Adoptions

About Our Rescue Group...

Kiko Dog Rescue and Adoptions is a small non-profit rescue group located west of Montreal near the Quebec/Ontario border and is named after a little black Pug rescued from a puppy mill. We are dedicated to helping dogs that have found themselves homeless, whether they are from a pound, puppy mill or a home surrender, by placing them in the loving forever homes they so deserve. All dogs that come into our rescue receive whatever veterinary care they require, including everything from dentistry to surgery to help correct an uncomfortable or painful medical condition. In many cases, the adoption fee is not enough to cover a dog's vet bill. If you would like to help us by making a donation towards our vet bill, please click on the Paypal button. Thank you!

Our dogs are not kept at a shelter. We rely on the generosity of foster families. If you are not ready for a permanent adoption and would like to consider fostering on a temporary basis, please contact us for more information. Food and veterinary care is provided by Kiko—all you need to provide is a warm loving haven.

Our Adoption Process...

If you are interested in adopting a Kiko dog, please e-mail us. You will be asked to complete an adoption application so that we can get to know you better. A home visit is also mandatory, often with the dog that interests you. Our adoption fee is $400 and all our dogs are examined by a veterinarian, defleaed, dewormed*, vaccinated, sterilized and also tested for heartworm and lyme disease. *Please note that puppies adopted at a young age may require ongoing deworming for up to six months. Although this is a relatively inexpensive treatment, Kiko is unable to cover this and will only take care of deworming while the puppy is under the care of the rescue.
