Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Chloe, our dear little special needs Cocker Spaniel mix, is full of life and joy - she has to be one of the happiest dogs I have ever met. She is approximately 4 months old. Chloe was born with a deformity of her right front leg. The leg is not growing normally - it is shorter than the other legs by about 3 inches, and does not have the pads a normal paw would have, though it does have nails. She does really well running and getting around, and uses it at times for balance and in play to hold a toy.
We have had consultations with vets and a specialist, and had been advised by some to amputate the limb, and by others to leave it as is. It doesn’t currently cause her any pain, and she does use the leg. The more I get to know her, the more I would like to see it stay as long as she remains pain-free and is able to use the leg. She should be spayed as soon as her growth plates have closed.
Chloe will be smaller than the average Cocker Spaniel; she weighs about 12 lbs now. Her coat is blonde and feels like silk. She is still at the crazy stage of being a puppy by wanting to chew everything, so she needs to be watched for the sake of your shoes, furniture, and anything she thinks looks chewable. She loves her toys, and has them strewn all over the house available at her whim.
Chloe has been doing well with her housetraining, but will need to be watched for a while to be sure she really gets it. She is crate trained and sleeps in a crate at night. She will need to be crated while her humans are out until she is fully trained, and to prevent her getting into things she shouldn’t. She is such a joy and loves to play fetch until your arm is ready to fall off. It would be ideal if Chloe’s new family has someone at home most of the time.
We are looking for a family for Chloe that understands her special needs, and that her future medical requirements are uncertain. They should be prepared for the costs incurred for future tests and medical procedures based on the decision taken about Chloe’s leg in consultation with their vet. This sweet, fun and energetic pup will bring joy, laughter and lots of love to her new family.
Please contact us about the adoption fee and requirements for Chloe.
