Emmy Lou's Story...
Emmy Lou is the sweetest old hound dog you'll ever meet and is a favorite in her foster home! She is an Treeing Walker Coonhound and is about 7 years old. This poor girl seems to have lived a rough life, being an outdoor country dog that has mothered multiple litters. When we rescued her from animal control, she was heartworm positive and she had ehrlichia. After months of treatment, Emmy Lou is happy and healthy and ready to find her furever family! Emmy Lou has adjusted quickly to indoor life, and loves to just snuggle up on a dog bed and enjoy your company. She does well with other dogs (absolutely loves the hound puppies at her foster home!) but does not do well with cats.

All of our dogs are fostered in our homes so we know their temperaments. They are spayed or neutered, up to date on shots, de-wormed, heartworm tested (and treated if necessary), and on flea and heartworm prevention. Our adoption fee begins at $165.00 for all of our dogs and puppies. Our goal is to match our animals to the best home possible. Please email info@cofas.org for more information. You can also fill out an application at www.cofas.org

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Emmy Lou, a Greensboro Treeing Walker Coonhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Treeing Walker Coonhound for sale in Greensboro, or seeking a Treeing Walker Coonhound dog from a breeder in Greensboro.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Greensboro already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Greensboro breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Treeing Walker Coonhound breeders who help with Treeing Walker Coonhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Greensboro paves the way for another one to be saved.
