Here's what the humans have to say about me:
MEET LILYANNE -
Little Lily is a loveable 3.5 year old, 12.5 lbs, long haired red Dachshund (akc no papers). She was just saved and is looking for a loving forever family. She is housetrained, spayed, just had her teeth cleaned and rides well in the car (when in her crate). Little Lilyanne gets along with most. She is a happy, adorable little doll. She could be placed with a friendly, neutered male doxie. She gets along with HER cat, but we're not sure how well she'll get on with others, so our recommendation is that her new family be cat free. While this little doll truly does mind well, she needs a little work on crate training in the home and barking. She is on a low dose of medications for seizures, but hasn't had a seizure in a long time. Lilyanne is a very happy, healthy and adorable little doll who just wants a little tlc. She has been the princess.
Lilyanne will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds.
Like all Dachshunds, Lilyanne is high energy and enjoys playing and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around her neighborhood, Lilyanne needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
Can you give Lilyanne a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
